Fall Wedding in Ouray, Colorado

Oury and Ciara said their vows right outside of Ouray in a tiny town called Ridgeway.  In fact their wedding ceremony was in Ridgeway State Park, overlooking mountains for as far as the eye could see.  After the ceremony we went over to a gorgeous mountain cabin overlooking the San Juans, and everyone sat outside ate hors d’oeuvres and had drinks by the fire pit.  It was the perfect Colorado wedding!

If you haven’t been to Southern Colorado, it is completely different than any other part of Colorado.  It goes from flat open land to rocky, tall mountains very quickly! There aren’t even words really.  Ridgeway State Park is also very gorgeous, with views for miles.

“There are few things so beautiful in life they hurt: Swimming in the ocean while it rains, reading alone in empty libraries, the sea of stars that appear when you’re miles away from the neon lights of the city, bars after 2am, walking in the wilderness, all the phases of the moon, the things we don’t know about the universe, and you.”

Beau Taplin

Their first look was so sweet.  Oury teared up, and handed a letter to Ciara to read.  The most special part about that moment was that it was at Oury’s parents house, in their back yard.  It was quiet and intimate, and nobody else was around. They had time to be together just the two of them before the ceremony and reception.  I am a big believer that you two need a moment together alone. After all, it is about you!

Every wedding and elopement is different, and every photographer, but when you are looking for your wedding photographer, make sure that you love their work AND their personality.  If you are going to have someone there for every second of your wedding day, you want them to feel like a good friend! Check out my process here, and if you just love this wedding and you want to chat then contact me. Let’s do it!
