Nick + Sara’s Breckenridge Elopement

When these two Alaskans reached out to me about their Breckenridge elopement, I was SO excited! We talked about what they wanted– mountains, close family, and a laid back day. I know that parts of Alaska are very similar to Colorado, but I wanted to make sure that they got some epic views, so I sent over a couple of lists of my favorite spots. Nick and Sara flew in that week, and drove all over the place looking for the perfect spot. They ended up self solemnizing on the back deck of their gorgeous cabin rental.

Nick and Sara’s first look was 100% them: fun, and goofy, and full of love. They are two fun souls with a huge sense of adventure, and those amazing hiking boots showed that they weren’t afraid to get dirty. They said their vows in front of their parents and siblings, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the group. These two wanted simple and intimate, and it was perfectly that.

After the ceremony, Nick and Sara’s dads and brothers dug my car out of the driveway while I photographed the two in the aspen grove. Oh yes, did I not mention that? I got my car stuck for the first time ever, in their driveway! I felt so bad, but being from Alaska they had it out in less than 5 minutes. The best family ever! I owe them!!

The light was perfect! Big, fluffy clouds, warm weather (for beginning of April) and a cotton candy sunset to end it all. I made them dance to music in the snow, whisper funny things into each other’s ears, and snuggle real close. They gladly did, and we awed at the views all around us. At the end of the evening we went to the Hoosier Pass sign, and looked over to see the clouds open up over the mountains. It was SO GOOD!!

If you are eloping in Summit County, or Breckenridge and this hit you right in the feels, reach out! I would love to help you find a location, and be the laid back, fun photographer that has you belly laughing all evening. Weddings are meant to be FUN and all about you two!
Check out more elopements here, too!!
